We are excited to share that the Park at Lakeshore East has been awarded the 2020 Landmark Award by the Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ILASLA). The renowned awards program recognizes excellence in landscape architecture that positively impacts everyday interactions with the surrounding environment.
Lakeshore East Park spans several beautiful acres and is easily considered one of the best maintained parks in the Chicago Park District’s portfolio in part due to the support from each surrounding building. With its vast seating space, stunning landscaping, and remarkable views of the city’s skyscrapers, the Park at Lakeshore East is an urban oasis for park-goers and passersby alike. Boasting a variety of diverse and flexible spaces to accommodate community needs, the park is a retreat for those seeking to reconnect with nature and the beauty of Chicago’s outdoors. Within the park, nearby residents and visitors are privy to several passive water promenades, a dog park, a children’s playground, large lawn, gardens, and a variety of seating options.
New to the park is Magellan Development Group’s recently opened Lakeshore East Beer & Food Garden. Offering nearly 75 picnic tables and fare from the popular Eggy’s Diner and Gordo’s Tiny Taco Bar, the new space is perfect for diners looking to enjoy the outdoors while maintaining safe social distance from other guests.
The Park at Lakeshore East, which also won the distinction in 2019, is an urban masterpiece serving as a focal point of Magellan Development’s Lakeshore East Master Plan. The multi-award-winning community is a cultural achievement presenting an idyllic lifestyle nestled in a vibrant setting just minutes away from Chicago landmarks, Lake Michigan, sailing clubs, museums, restaurants, and shopping.
Located where the Chicago River and Lake Michigan meet, Lakeshore East and Lakeshore East Park are both triumphs in architectural and botanical innovation. It is the largest downtown development in any major U.S. city, blending the most desirable elements of a traditional city neighborhood with nature.
Lakeshore East is home to an array of architecturally impressive condominium and apartment buildings including: the Lancaster, the Shoreham, the Tides, the Regatta, the Chandler, 340 on the Park, and the Parkhomes at Lakeshore East. The community proudly features two Jeanne Gang designed buildings, Aqua and Vista Tower, as well as GEMS World Academy’s Lower School. Vista Tower, slated to be completed this year, will be the world’s tallest standing structure designed by a woman (Jeanne Gang, Studio Gang).
